Welcome to the NEW Fake it Fancy Eats

Hi, I’m Kaila – and welcome to the new, softer, cozier version of Fake it Fancy Eats. If you’ve been here before, things might look a little different.

For a while, I used this space for the wrong reasons – I was trying to “get rich quick” by posting about things I sort of cared about, but not really. Every post I tried to make “SEO Friendly” and draw as much traffic as possible. Hilarious considering it didn’t work. People can sense your authenticity, or lack therof, and it shows.

Don’t get me wrong: I still love cookware and meal prepping, but it’s only part of the whole story. My biggest passions are cooking and baking, which do go hand in hand with the aforementioned, but it’s what makes me happiest, and what I want to focus on moving forward.

Not to get too emo, but I sometimes wonder if I should’ve gone to culinary school like I always wanted, instead of going into debt getting a BA and Master’s Degree in something I don’t even use. Cooking and baking is something I do when I just need to block out the world, and if you’ve found yourself in my corner of the internet, maybe you understand. Even on days when everything feels too much, being in the kitchen, creating something with my hands, slows me down and reminds me to be present. Plus, delicious food at the end!

I’ll tell you a secret: recently I’ve been dreaming of starting my own baking business. Something small with treats that are balanced and feel comforting. Apparently I have a knack for making desserts that “aren’t too sweet”…there’s something there for a name, I’m still workshopping it.
